Description

Description

Guarapo, is based on the integration of the harvesting activity of palm groves with the conservation of this habitat, according to the climate scenarios that have been derived from climate change. It seeks to identify the procedures that are developed in the traditional use of this habitat and the phytosanitary and physiological problems that may be conditioning the normal development of island palm groves. The knowledge generated in GUARAPO will allow to improve the techniques of use, management, exploitation and control; through communication and training actions, this natural heritage value will be enhanced and optimised, both by the economic sectors linked to them, as well as to their own population. It implements the study and application of new techniques for the conservation and use of island palm groves, applicable in the Macaronesian region and that result in the enhancement of the resource, both environmentally, culturally and economically.
