Description
Description | Project #2017-09: Lagunitas Creek Planting Project was part of the Marin RCD's Conserving Our Watersheds program to assist agricultural operations with stewardship activities that improve water quality. A low land area on a ranch used for an organic crop farm is part of the floodplain for a creek that runs along the property line. Sections of the bank lacking riparian vegetation are eroding during high flow events. The landowner wanted to stabilize the banks in order to preserve the flat. The project installed a cost effective fix of willow poles and stakes to stabilize the bank. Unfortunately, the success of this project was undermined by large flood event during a wet year. |
