Consolidation of the Structural Adjustment Programme

The present intervention relates to the Consolidation of the Structural Adjustment Programme. This consolidation phase should complete the actions embarked, upon in 1983 to restore the major financial and economic equilibria, and to provide a solid foundation for the continued development of the country. Morocco should be one of the first countries of the Continent to come out of structural adjustment and resume sustained growth. The measures proposed by the Government under this programme are consistent and complete those already taken in the financial, industrial and agricultural sectors. At the completion of the structural adjustment process, the Moroccan economy should be liberal and modern and the authorities, devoted inter alia to solving the problems of human resources development and social solidarity. The programme is centred on the reforms of public finances, the social sector and external trade to enable the Moroccan econorny achieve an efficient, autonomous and equitable growth over the 1990s.
