Description

Description

The project aims to build a new commercial-scale plant in Quebec to turn non-recyclable, non-compostable solid waste into cellulosic ethanol. This will be carried out by Ethanol cellulosique Varennes which constitutes a limited partnership. The scope of the project includes: the design, planning and construction of the components necessary for the operation of the biorefinery plant which will produce alternative low-carbon intensity fuels (methanol / ethanol) from residual materials such as than non-recyclable residues. It will be designed to convert more than 300 metric tonnes of waste per day into nearly 95 M liters per year of methanol or ethanol. The project will increase the capacity to eliminate pollutants from the soil and improve clean energy production, by diverting material from landfill and producing alternative fuel. In this way, the project will reduce GHG emissions by more than 157,000 tonnes of CO2eq per year.
