Construction of a new Transit Maintenance Garage & Public Works Yard

In 2014 the City purchased an industrial property at 791 Webber Street to relocate the Public Works operations and Fleet Maintenance functions to a new site that is appropriately sized to accommodate the current operation plus anticipated growth over the next 20-25 years. Of the $23.0 million bid price for the new Public Works Yard, $14.28 million is the cost for the new Fleet Maintenance facility. Approximately 40% of the garage activities are attributable to the maintenance of the City Transit Fleet, which translates into a total $5.712 million cost share for the new public works yard attributed to Transit. The new fleet maintenance facilities will increase the capacity for maintaining a larger vehicle fleet in the future to accommodate growth and will address current substandard conditions in the existing maintenance garage.
