Description
Description | This project aims to construct a new Safe and Secure Truck Parking Area (SSTPA) located in Alessandria (Piedmont Region), Italy on motorway A21/E70 which forms part of the Mediterranean corridor, and near its intersection with motorway A26/E25 which forms part of the North Sea - Rhine - Mediterranean corridor. Alessandria SSTPA will provide parking for 300 heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), as well as the service and utilities buildings for the drivers. The SSTPA will be certified at Gold Level in compliance with all obligations under Annex I of the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/1012, with regard to the establishment of standards detailing the level of service and security of safe and secure parking areas and to the procedures for their certification. The construction of this new SSTPA will address the shortage of safe and secure truck parking places within the Piedmont Region and it will contribute to improvement of safety and security for the drivers, their vehicles and their cargo. The service facilities that will be provided at the new SSTPA will also improve drivers’ wellbeing and allow proper rest, thus also contributing to improvement of the safety and security of transport on the European road network. The project belongs to the first phase of a Global Project which aims to develop a pan-European network of 48 certified SSTPAs in several European countries, namely Italy, Slovenia, Spain, France and the Netherlands. |
