Description
Description | The project addresses the construction of new safe and secure parking infrastructure for trucks located on the A1 / E57/ E59 motorway, which forms part of the Mediterranean, Baltic Sea – Adriatic Sea and Western Balkans – Eastern Mediterranean TEN-T European Transport Corridors. The main objective of the project is to develop a new safe and secure truck parking area (SSTPA) in accordance with Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/1012. To achieve the mentioned objective, the project covers the construction of a new SSTPA on approximately 48,640 m2 of land with 236 parking spaces for heavy goods vehicles, including 4 electrical charging points capable of recharging 8 refrigeration trailers. The SSTPA will have the technical parameters and provide the level of services corresponding to the Gold level EU parking standard. The project consists of 2 work packages: Project Management (WP1) and Construction Works (WP2). Project Management covers (i) project management tasks, (ii) works supervision, (iii) notification to the local municipality upon completion of works, (iv) third party certification, and (v) publicity measures. Construction Works cover (i) excavation of the site and all necessary earthworks, (ii) installation of the utilities infrastructure required for the SSTPA, (iii) construction of the parking area, including paving, (iv) construction of the buildings, including the main services building, additional sanitary blocks, electrical services building, fire pumping station and waste cabin, (v) fitting out of the buildings with necessary equipment, and (vi) installation of security equipment and access control systems throughout the entire SSTPA. Upon completion, the project will deliver multiple benefits including time savings, reduced accidents, lower rates of theft, decreased noise levels, as well as reductions of emissions of air-borne pollutants and green-house gases. The majority of these benefits will result from a reduction of the average driving distance required for heavy goods vehicles to find a parking space, estimated at 5 kilometres per vehicle. |
