Description

Description

In addition to improving the infrastructure at numerous secondary schools and colleges, teacher training is the biggest challenge for the provincial government in Guizhou. With the Construction of a Teaching and Research Base and Engineering Training Center project, Guizhou Education University, one of two universities of applied sciences for teacher training and further education in the province, wants to develop and implement innovative concepts in vocational training. The development loan of 25 million euros will be used to modernize Guizhou Education University, a university of applied sciences in the western province of Guizhou. 88% of the loan will finance modern equipment, including media equipment for Internet-based learning, machines for future-oriented applications and equipment for an innovation center for teachers and self-employed people. A further 8% will be made available for equipping a lecture hall in a new training building that has already been built with the sponsor's own funds. The remaining 4% will be used to employ international consultants who will develop a modern training approach together with the university of applied sciences. Measured by per capita income, Guizhou Province ranks 29th out of 31. Many residents still live below the poverty line. Around 40% of the population belong to national minorities. In the GEU, more than 43% of students belong to ethnic minorities and around 29% come from particularly poor backgrounds.
