Description | -To offer expanded public programming and community use by increasing the size of the Hamilton Children’s Museum. -To better provide programs to vulnerable populations such as Indigenous and low income families. -To provide a space for children and their families where all can be welcome regardless of culture, race or origin, feeling safe to grow and play. -To positively impact children, families and communities to encourage lifelong learning. -Building an addition to the Hamilton Children’s Museum adding an additional 2,600 sq ft of exhibition/programming space. -New barrier free entrance for all visitors. -New barrier free family washrooms. -Improved circulation routes, fire exiting and signage. -New fire alarm, wired carbon monoxide (CO) alarms, exiting, elevator. -Updated HVAC, LED lighting and municipal services. -Upgraded windows in current building. -Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) improvements to current building. -Sidewalk, parking lot, entrance improvements. -Extended operating hours for after school programming, single parenting needs. -Increased ability to handle larger groups of visitors. -Increased programming by at least one third in the first year, with subsequent years increasing incrementally. -Increased barrier free accessibility. -Increased energy efficiency. |
