Description

Description

The construction of the Parc des Gorilles aims to reintroduce a densely planted natural infrastructure into the heart of a very mineral and unstructured neighbourhood in order to mitigate the risks of extreme heat in the Marconi-Alexandra sector and thus improve the quality of life of the communities living in the neighbourhood and using the park. As well as preserving the existing wasteland and ditch in their entirety, the new infrastructure will involve the intensive renaturalisation of 78% of the site (planting a mini-forest of 3,000 trees), the development of themed gardens (food gardens, a ‘garden of the senses’, etc.), the construction of an agora to allow multiple uses by the community, and the integration of bioretention infrastructure for the ecological management of rainwater from the park and Waverly Street, which runs alongside it.
