Description
Description | Construction of a new stormwater management pond, culvert and diversion channel to provide temporary storage and treatment of stormwater during elevated run-off events caused by increased run-off from existing and future development in the City’s Eastside (Sydenham Heights mixed-use development, East City Commercial and Industrial/employment Park areas. This will reduce peak flow rates (volume and velocity) and thereby reduce silt, sediment, grit and organic/inorganic material loading in stormwater runoff discharged to Owen Sound Bay from hard surfaces such as roads, parking lots, sidewalks and boulevards etc. as well as from Kenny Drain system channel erosion, thereby protecting and improving water quality of Owen Sound of Georgian Bay. Owen Sound of Georgian Bay is the raw water source for the City of Owen Sound’s Water Treatment Plant. The project also includes the construction of channel erosion measures to reduce silt and sediment loading downstream from the Storm Water Management Pond. |
