Construction of Median Bus Rapid Transit Lanes on Highway 2, City of Pickering

• The project involves the construction of dedicated median bus rapid transit (BRT) lanes, bus stops, and bike lanes along Highway 2 through the City of Pickering, in Ontario. The dedicated BRT lanes will improve public transit travel times and service reliability, while the bike lanes will provide active transportation connections along the corridor. The project is part of the larger Durham-Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit initiative. • The project scope includes the construction of: o 7.5 km of dedicated median transit lanes; o 7.5 km of bike lanes; and o 20 bus stops and shelters (a stop and shelter for each direction of travel, at 10 locations). • The project will result in improved capacity, quality, and safety of, and access to, the public transit system in Pickering. It will also result in improved capacity of active transportation infrastructure.
