Description

Description

Bukura Agricultural College is a State Corporation established by the Bukura Agricultural College Act, 1999 to provide middle level training in agriculture and related fields. The College is currently faced with a number of challenges ranging from increasing complexity of the external environment, declining government funding, increasing expectations from stakeholders due to technological changes, inadequate physical infrastructure and equipment to cope with increasing students’ enrolment, low research and extension activities due to lack of relevant research infrastructure, changes in education policies with a major focus on competency based education and training that is practical oriented and therefore need for relevant infrastructure. In response to these challenges and the need to contribute to the Government Big Four Development Agenda specifically on food and nutrition security the College initiated the construction of the Education complex consisting of laboratories, classrooms, lecture theatres, assembly halls, staff offices, students hostels, water and sewerage system, among others. The main product for the project will be accommodation hostels for trainees of the college. The hostel will have standard self-contained rooms. The facility will provide trainees with secure and clean accommodation for trainees within the college. At the moment, the college can only accommodate 500 out of the 2000 currently enrolled. With the anticipated 3000 student population, enrollment has continued to increase leading to a huge demand for the facility. The facility will be within the college and therefore trainees do not have to commute, it will be secure and hygienic. It will also be offered at an affordable price to the trainees.
