Information National Mineral Development Corporation Limited [NMDC] has come up with Construction of Screening Plant-II for Donimalai and Kumaraswamy Iron Ore Mining Complex of NMDC Limited at Ballari Dt, Karnataka. with a ticket size of 1024 INR Crores. This project in Manufacturing sub-sector involves The current status of the project is DPR/Feasibility Study and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project NMDC has constructed Screening Plant-I at Donimalai in the year 1977 with a capacity of 4 MTPA and further enhanced to 7 MTPA for processing of Iron ore of Donimalai mine. NMDC is also operating another mine at Kumaraswamy hill range. The onsite crushing and screening facilities 5 no. s of 450 TPH were developed for crushing and screening of iron ore. Further, 1800 TPH Crushing plant and downhill conveyor has also been constructed for KIOM upto Screening Plant-I at Donimalai for processing of ore. Earlier, it was envisaged to utilise existing Screening Plant for KIOM also as iron ore reserves are in DIOM are getting depleted. Subsequently, based on the exploratory core drilling operations, additional iron ore reserves have been established at DIOM and life of the mine has been enhanced to 20 years. As the existing Screening Plant-I is 40 years old and further capacity enhancement is not possible, hence, it is proposed to construct a New Screening cum Beneficiation Plant of capacity 10 MTPA for screening and beneficiation of ore received from both DIOM and KIOM mines. Implementation yet to start. Clearances awaited.
