Construction of the new Mont-Laurier library

The City of Mont-Laurier wants to tear down its downtown municipal library in order to build a new one. In addition to meeting the current standards of public libraries in Quebec, the new infrastructure will include the following functions: a digital creation space, a collaborative workspace, spaces dedicated to different clienteles (children, adolescents and adults), a meeting room, closed reading section as well as a terrace. The new library will be arranged over two floors and will have an area of 1,132 m2. The main construction activities are: • Demolition of the existing building (not included in the financing request); • Excavation; • Pouring of foundations; • Construction of the building; • Arrangement of interior divisions; • Installation of mechanical systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, humidity control systems, elevator); • Exterior work to improve parking space and facilitate access. The project will make it possible to increase the range of services, in particular, through more user-friendly, more comfortable and, above all, more accessible spaces. In addition, the new digital creation room will offer new users a completely new offer and thus increase the number of subscriptions and visits. This project will allow the town of Mont-Laurier to offer its population a better quality cultural infrastructure in addition to improving access to it.
