Description

Description

The Energia Eolica - Talara wind project was a 30 MW wind farm to be located in Parinas district, province of Talara (Piura). The project developer - Energia Eolica S.A. - was a Peruvian based firm with Spanish investors and was created with the intention of building, owning and operating wind farms in Peru. The project would sell power to the SEIN grid system and had obtained through tender a 20 year PPA to sell power from the Peruvian Ministry of Mines and Energy. The investment was estimated at USD 71.1 million. The EIA of the Energia Eolica S.A. - Talara wind farm was approved and as of 2011, expected commissioning was for 2012. In 2012, the project was purchased from energia Eolica by the NY based investment firm Countour Global. In November 2012, the sponsors applied for carbon credits. The project was purchased by US Conjtour Global in 2012 and is scheduled for financing in the first quarter of 2013. In 2013, OPIC approved a US$ 193 million loan to finance two of the sponsor's wind farms in Peru, the Cupisnique and the Talara wind farms. As of June 2014, 90% of the construction works were concluded. Commercial operations commenced in August 2014. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/contourglobal-to-build-the-first-large-scale-wind-farms-in-peru-172586261.html
