Description
Description | Convergent Inclusion: the Path to Inclusive Society Equality is a core European value reflected in the Treaty on European Union and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. Equality implies diversity and hence promotes barrier free environment and inclusion for all citizens, irrespective of their physical abilities. Inclusion helps us to abandon the idea that only “normal” people are useful for society. It motivates us to reassess the value of human life and individuality and to establish a new social paradigm aimed for maximum solidarity as a tool to create a just society. The search for new paths to inclusion is particularly important in the context of the pandemic that disturbs established social structures and connections and imposes isolation all around the globe. General objective of the project is to disseminate inclusive practices as a means to create a better society; the suggested practices are based on the comparative studies on risks and perspectives of inclusion of physically impaired people. The studies were conducted by the project’s authors in the context of convergent inclusion that implies interdisciplinary (combines philosophy, pedagogy, psychology and sociology) basis for the elimination of social barriers and equitable inclusion of people with physical disabilities. |
