Conversion of The First Church of Christ, Scientist into Children's Museum of Manhattan

The First Church of Christ, Scientist at 361 Central Park West, built in 1903, is being gutted and rebuilt as an 80,000 square foot children's museum. The project involves threading seven full floors into the original single vast auditorium space while preserving the landmark exterior, including the white Concord granite facade, steeple, barrel vault, and tall arched windows. The new museum will include hands-on exhibits, immersive learning environments, a cafe, a museum store, a performance space, and a rooftop terrace with views of Central Park. Completion is targeted for 2028.
