Cooper University Health Care broke ground on the first phase of a $3 billion expansion of its health sciences campus in Camden, New Jersey. The first phase includes a 10-story, 35,000-square-foot tower housing 125 private rooms, expanded women’s services, a neonatal intensive care unit, additional operating rooms, a medical command center, and education and research spaces. The system will use about $170 million in state grant money to fund the first phase, with completion slated for 2028. The larger Project Imagine will involve three patient towers to house up to 745 inpatient beds, plus expanded surgical and emergency capacity.
