The CARMASM Program developed the basic capability of the CARMA tools to perform cooperative driving automation (CDA) operations under limited operational design domains (ODDs). The functionality extends to limited use cases in freeways, arterials, and ports. Thus, the focus of this task order is to improve the capabilities of the functionality by highlighting the role of infrastructure in the CDA environment. The use cases in this project are focused around the ability to test and evaluate the potential of CDA features to improve the transportation network. These features were developed to tactically address the following high-level objectives: to increase infrastructure efficiency and reduce traffic congestion; to increase transportation network safety; to reduce emissions and energy consumption.
