Coos Bay Multi-Modal Terminal

NorthPoint Development is planning to construct the Coos Bay Multi-Modal Terminal, a full-scale container terminal. The three-berth terminal will be the first ship-to-rail port facility on the West Coast between San Francisco and Portland. The port will be fitted with electric plug-ins that will power ships at berth during unloading. Using shore-side electrical power at berth—called cold ironing—will eliminate ship engine emissions in port waters, reducing pollutants by approximately 90% and greenhouse gas emissions by roughly 50%. It will be capable of handling more than one million 40-ft containers annually. This project is a public-private partnership between the Port of Coos Bay and NorthPoint Development.
