COPE is a propsal for the implementation of three workshops (and an additional test event in advance) in the framework of combating money counterfeiting. The distribution of counterfeit banknotes through the internet (e.g. messenger services like Telegram, Wickr, Signal etc. or social networks like Facebook/Instagram) and the darknet (on marketplaces and forums) and the following delivery by post to the customers is a significant topic and still continues to gain more and more importance. These issues will be the main topics of the workshops. The proposed measure to this extent will be a pilot project held for the first time. It is intented to implement further follow-up events for other EU member states in the framework of the international cooperation and combat against money counterfeiting. The seminars will be structured using plenary sessions and workshops - the focus will be multidisciplinary cooperation between police, customs, justice and national bank (NAC), technical support and best pratices in Europe and the legislative framework for protecting currencies against counterfeiting especially from the internet/darknet.
