The Copper One mine in Utah has deployed the world's first fully autonomous mining system under a single operating system called MarianaOS. This system includes fully driverless haul truck operation, automated drill cycles, robots autonomously patrolling the pit, and automatically adjusted reagent dosing. Human operators remain in digital control rooms for safety and maintenance. Mariana Minerals aims to scale production at Copper One to 50,000 metric tons per year of high-purity copper cathode by 2030, addressing the U.S. structural copper deficit and increasing domestic demand due to AI data centers.
