Description | The CopperString Project is a major infrastructure initiative in Queensland to deliver reliable and sustainable energy for North and North West Queensland. It includes the development of a new battery storage and wind farm along the CopperString corridor, consisting of up to 24 wind turbines producing 144MW backed by a battery energy storage system. The project will power MMG's Dugald River Mine and feed energy into the broader North West Power System. The project is being delivered in two sections: the Eastern Link, a 350 km 330kV transmission line from Reid River near Townsville to Hughenden, and the Western Link, supported by the $200 million North West Energy Fund for local renewable energy generation and battery systems. |
