Description

Description

The main short-term objective of the EDEN SLOVENIA 2014 project is to select the destination of excellence in Slovenia which will best meet the specific criteria presented in this proposals and which is consistent with the general award criteria set in the call. The main objective is therefore the selection of one Slovenian Destination of Excellence which has developed a specific tourism offer based on its specific local gastronomy and this offer should have been implemented at least since 2012. The selected Slovenian Destination of Excellence shall therefore be non-traditional. The long-term objectives are related to economic prosperity and the regional sustainability of presently less recognized tourist destinations, where the economic growth objective is pursued in such a way as to ensure the social, cultural and environmental sustainability of tourism. The project should also help cope with seasonality issue and rebalance tourist flows towards non-traditional destinations. Activities chosen for this project are the result of past experience of Slovenian Tourist Board (now SPIRIT Slovenia), strategies and working programs. SPIRIT Slovenia has been actively involved in the EDEN Network since 2008. During implementation of past 5 projects, we have learned a lot on project and heterogeneous team management, planning and reporting, networking, destination management, sustainable tourism and more. Therefore, SPIRIT Slovenia has a full financial and professional capability as well as experience in EU-funded projects to take over the proposed project. The project has two main sections, the selection process and promotional activities. The selection process is developed in work packages 1 and 3. They are very important for the implementation of the selection process and the selection of the winning destination and the finalists. Communication and promotional activities are developed in work packages 2, 4, 5 and 6.
