Southeast Europe in general and the Danube region in particular are transit areas for illegal migrants on their way to Western Europe. Affected countries have recorded an increased pressure from illegal migrants over the last years. In many situations, the migrants become victims of trafficking in human beings (THB). The objective of the overall project is to improve the police cooperation in the Danube Region by enhancing the information exchange, improving coordination of information sharing, coordinating joint investigations and conducting regional operations in the project implementation field. As a result, more efficient measures will be taken, and safety and security will be increased in the region. START CTP Project Partners elaborated a questionnaire regarding the national situation on trafficking in human beings (THB) and one regarding the national situation on illegal migration (IM). Reports on THB and IM were elaborated on the base of the answers received. In a one day conference, the reports were presented, discussed and adopted. In addition to the reports, regional operations were assessed and decisions about new common operations were taken.
