Description
Description | Digital Realty Trust plans to demolish the 100-year-old Court Arcade building at 725 Trade St in Charlotte to expand an existing data center. The building's historic facade, which includes an arched entryway and covered setback, was initially intended to be preserved but the developer later filed for a permit to demolish the entire building. The demolition permit process is ongoing, and a demolition date has not been set. The Charlotte branch of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Charlotte) is opposing the demolition and seeking to save the facade, citing its architectural significance and the precedent its removal would set. |
