Description
Description | The project contributes to the UNICEF Response Plan to the COVID-19 Pandemic. This aims to support the Indian government in containing COVID-19 illnesses and deaths and in cushioning the consequences of the pandemic for the population, especially for women and children. The FC contribution is limited to the second component of the UNICEF response plan and includes the procurement of urgently needed medical equipment. In the second phase of the project, investments will be made primarily in expanding the medical cold chain (procurement of refrigerators and freezers) in preparation for the introduction and distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine. The recipient of the funds and project sponsor is UNICEF. As in Phase I, EUR 15.0 million is available for the planned measures. As part of an increase in the project amounting to EUR 10 million, further procurements will be financed to expand the medical cold chain and to set up a medical extreme cold chain. Furthermore, testing capacity in India will be improved by financing RT-PCR testing equipment for state laboratories. |
