The project addresses critical recovery and resilience needs in the coastal provinces most affected by Cyclones Idai and Kenneth. The project will prioritize recovery of housing, public infrastructure and private sector activity across the the provinces of Sofala and Cabo Delgado, which have been hardest hit by the two cyclones. The project investments in climate resilience infrastructure will specifically target the city of Beira, which is among the most important and fastest growing centers of economic activity in Mozambique and accounts for a large share of the economic impact of Cyclone Idai. Furthermore, the project also supports Mozambique's response to COVID-19 through interventions in health and social protection.
