Description

Description

The deliverable is a GDOT concept report to seek future federal aide funding to create a trail system to connect the Kensington MARTA Station to the Indian Creek MARTA Station to the surrounding neighborhoods and future DeKalb Government Center/Georgia Perimeter College/Georgia Piedmont College. The road diets on Kensington Rd and Mountain Dr will convert overcapacity/over designed four lane roads to a 3 lane roads with bike lanes and enhanced, safe pedestrian crossings, including medians, to the Kensington MARTA Station. The project falls within the Kensington LCI area. The project will provide a critical, and environmentally sustainable, transportation link between the neighborhood and transit by providing transportation commute alternatives, other than the automobile, to transit stations. The project will evaluate the need for additional pedestrian and bicycle facilities enhancements, such as pedestrian scaled lighting and other amenities. Provides for last mile connectivity.
