This project includes a number of upgrades to Cowichan Performing Arts Centre: seat cushion upgrades to aging theatre seats, creation of a designated concession area with lounge seating which could also be used for smaller events and expansion and accessibility improvements to the facility’s public washrooms. This project includes a number of upgrades to Cowichan Performing Arts Centre based on patron and industry feedback. The current theatre lobby washrooms are narrow with a limited number of stalls. This project will expand the number of stalls and make the washrooms more open and accessible for those with mobility challenges. The new designated concession and lounge area will result in more usable and rentable space and a more positive theatre experience. The theatre house seats are due for replacement based on the condition-based assessments of the corporate strategic asset management plan, however, it was determined that the replacement could be limited to the back and bottom seat cushions as the seats are otherwise in good condition. The project works will include: - replacement of the theatre bottom and back seat cushions; - installation of cup holders; - improvements to aisle wayfinding signage; - public washroom expansion; - construction of new concession area with lounge; and, - related works.
