Description

Description

CPH:DOX was founded in 2003 and is one of the largest cultural events in Denmark as well as one of the largest documentary film festivals in the world with over 118,000 admissions and almost 2,000 accredited guests for the festival, market and industry activities. Parallel to a film programme of around 200 new films screening over the course of 12 days in March and April, the festival continues to rethink the contemporary festival experience through a wide variety of activities: From Q&As to panels, from education to industry, and from high- profile live events to nationwide and year-round activities. In March 2020, CPH:DOX was the first film festival in the world to re-appear in an entirely online format (both audience and industry) as a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic. This experience has given the festival a leading position among European and global festivals in the move into hybrid formats to the benefit of an even wider and more diverse audience, nationwide and internationally, benefitting the manye European films in the programme. The festival will continue to develop its innovative strategies in this field in its coming editions. CPH:DOX is internationally recognized for a programme profile that insists on documentary as an art form, while remaining dedicated to the political, social and cultural urgency of the genre. As the first major festival dedicated exclusively to documentaries in the spring, CPH:DOX provides European talent with an attractive platform to launch new work to a diverse and generally young audience. Parallel with the popular audience festival, CPH:DOX presents the international industry platforms CPH:Forum (financing, co-production), CPH:Market, and CPH:LAB (training), and educational initiatives Dox:Academy and UNG:DOX. CPH:DOX plans to reach at least 125.000 admissions in 2022 and 135.000 in 2023 - plus 60.000 for year-round events, reaching 200.000 admissions in total per year and 400.000 for the total project period.
