Hikal Limited (“Hikal” or the ‘Company”) undertakes custom manufacturing of key intermediates and active substances for pharmaceutical and agrochemical companies worldwide. Apart from the above, the Company provides process development and discovery research support. Hikal is an existing IFC client and is embarking on a set of cleaner production initiatives at its facilities, including the establishment of briquette-fired boilers and a co-generation power plant, setting up a production line based on an enzymatic process that eliminates three key solvents from the production process, setting up a pilot plant to scale up the enzymatic processes for other products and establishment of effluent treatment and water conservation facilities.
