Description

Description

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) proposes to replace the existing bridge over Morning Creek Tributary on CR1385/Buffington Road. The existing bridge, constructed in 1966, is load limited to three (3) tons and has a sufficiency rating of 6 (on a scale of 1 to 100). CR 1385/Buffington Road is functionally classified as an urban minor arterial with a posted and design speed of 45 mph. The proposed bridge will be 200 feet long and 48 feet wide. The approaches will consist of two 12 foot lanes with 8 foot rural shoulders of which 6.5 feet will be paved. During construction, all traffic will be diverted onto a detour route. The proposed detour is to use SR 138/ Jonesboro Road to I-85 to Flat Shoals Road. (SR 138/Jonesboro Road is Exit 64 on I-85 and Flat Shoals Road is Exit 66 on I-85.) This proposed detour route is approximately 4.3 miles with approximately 1.5 miles of interstate driving.
