Description

Description

This project consists of the replacement of the existing CR 288/Whigham Road bridge over Big Slough. The project is located 10.5 miles southwest of the City of Pelham in Mitchell County. The proposed design includes one 11-foot lane and 4-foot rural shoulders (2-foot paved) in each direction. The design speed is 55 mph and an approximate project length of 3000 feet (0.6 miles). The proposed bridge typical section includes one 11-foot lane in each direction with 2-foot outside shoulders. The proposed bridge will be constructed in the same location as the existing bridge and traffic will be maintained via an off-site detour during construction. The proposed bridge profile is expected to increase approximately 3 feet to exceed the minimum clearance of 1 foot over the 100 Year Storm passing through Big Slough.
