Description

Description

This bridge (295-5011-0; Lee School Road over Cane Creek in Walker County) was built in 1918 and widened in 1980. The original portion of the bridge consists of two spans of concrete continuous floor beam system on a vertical concrete pier wall and concrete abutments. The design load of the bridge is unknown. The bridge is posted for reduced load capacity and is scour critical. The original section of concrete continuous floor beams has moderate deterioration and random surface spalls with exposed rebar. The steel beams have random areas of section loss and pitting present at the bottom flanges at the ends at abutment 1, and the paint has lost effectiveness with spot surface corrosion present. Based on the condition of the bridge replacement is recommended.
