GDOT partner with Douglas County DOT to provide safety and traffic flow improvements at the intersection of Maxham Road and SR 6, as well as along a 1000' section of the southbound Maxham Road approach to the intersection. The proposed improvements will enhance the operational and safety aspects of the intersection through minor widening, change of lane assignments, and elimination of weaving to help reduce traffic congestion in this area. The minor road widening will not add thoroughfare capacity but will involve widening existing lanes to accommodate a planned median installation and turn lanes within the median. The project also includes proposed sidewalks on both sides of the road serving two major apartment complexes that provides direct pedestrian access to the retail commercial area.
