Description | The Christopher M. Crane Clean Energy Center, a nuclear power plant in Michigan licensed by Constellation Energy Generation, is planned to be restarted. The plant was permanently closed in 2019 and Constellation is investing in restoring the plant including turbine, generator, transformer, and cooling and control systems. The restart requires NRC approval, new permits, and safety and environmental reviews. The plant can generate up to 837 megawatts, enough to power 800,000 homes. Constellation aims to complete NRC reviews by the end of 2027 and pursue license renewal to extend operations to at least 2054. |
