Description | Plus Power has secured a 20-year energy storage agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for its 200-MW/800-MWh stand-alone battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Alabama. The project was selected through TVA’s 2025 request for proposals to meet rising electricity demand in the region. The battery will provide flexible capacity, fast frequency response, regulation, and operating reserves, with TVA responsible for dispatching the system based on network needs. Construction is expected to begin in 2028, with commercial operations targeted for summer 2029. Plus Power will own the facility. The project is expected to create 50 to 100 construction jobs and four permanent roles, marking Plus Power’s entry into the Southeast and expanding its operational footprint across the United States. |
