Description

Description

CLYMACT brings 6 Local Authorities and their communities together to discuss the main environmental challenges faced in each context, share best practices and develop solutions with a particular leadership of young people. The project will involve young citizens (18 to 30 years old) into a transnational debate on environmental challenges faced by their cities, in order to: 1) increase their agency and capacity to take action, leveraging their higher sensitivity to sustainability; and 2) improve the capacity of Local Authorities to co-design sustainable paths with young people, enhancing their responsiveness to young people’s needs and ideas while targeting major problems. The project foresees 6 in-presence transnational events in partner countries (IT, GR, ES, HR, HU), each one tackling one focus topic, and 2 online events (kick-off and closing event). The topics will be: sustainable mobility; energy poverty; food poverty; urban waste management with a focus on food waste, organic waste prevention and composting and climate change mitigation actions in urban settings. Each event will involve partners’ representatives and a delegation of the groups of young people (Young Spokespeople) from the partner cities who will discuss and work together to develop shared solutions. Local activities will then be led by the young people’s groups with schools and associations, to transfer the results and follow up on the debate at local level. The CLYMACT expected results will be: >the creation of a network of sensitive and committed European cities to open dialogue with young people for the creation of sustainable policies >the transfer and scale-up of good practices as a result of European exchange, also integrating suggestions and promising initiatives in a Work Agenda to be adopted by the municipalities >young citizens’ stronger climate awareness and engagement in advocacy and activism in the long term and increased understanding of local decision-making mechanisms.
