Cribari Bridge Renovation and Replacement

The project involves considering five options for the historic Cribari Bridge in Westport, Connecticut, including maintaining the bridge as is, conserving it with light work, rehabilitating it by building a new bridge on top of the old one, or building a new bridge either on the same site or slightly to the north. The bridge currently has issues such as being too low and narrow, lacking dedicated bike lanes and ADA-compliant sidewalks, and having a weight limit of 20 tons due to deterioration. The state is considering options that would allow the bridge to handle 18-wheeler tractor-trailer trucks, which has raised community concerns.
