Description
Description | The project involved the construction and development of Cross Bay Boulevard and Woodhaven Boulevard in Queens, New York. Cross Bay Boulevard was built across Jamaica Bay to Rockaway Beach, including the construction of two large bridges: the North Channel Bridge and the Cross Bay Bridge. Woodhaven Boulevard was widened and realigned to improve safety and traffic flow. The project shortened the distance between Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Rockaway Beach by about 10 miles and included later improvements such as the replacement of the drawbridge with the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge and the introduction of Select Bus Service. |
