The Cross River Rail is a major infrastructure project in Queensland, Australia, involving the construction of a new 10.2-kilometer railway line with 5.9 kilometers of twin tunnels excavated beneath Brisbane's city center. The project includes the construction of four new underground stations: Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street, and Roma Street, aimed at transforming urban transport in Brisbane. The tunnels reach depths of up to 58 meters below the surface and 42 meters below the Brisbane River bed. The project faced cost overruns and delays, with the budget nearly doubling from A$ 5.4 billion to over A$ 10.5 billion and the opening date pushed from 2026 to 2029.
