Description

Description

"Since 2004, CROSSING EUROPE Film Festival gem. GmbH has carried out the annual film festival CROSSING EUROPE which devotes its program to idiosyncratic, contemporary and socio-political auteur cinema from Europe. Over 6 days the festival offers between 120 and 140 outstanding feature-length fiction films, documentaries and shorts to 700 international film professionals (including 140 film guests) and the local cinema audience. With the program selection, the festival seeks to do justice to the diversity of European cinema, including a focus on films from countries with a low audiovisual production capacity. The long-term effects of the Covid-19 pandemic will be felt over the next few years. Without question, 2022 and 2023 are first and foremost about getting film festivals in general and Crossing Europe in particular recovered and on the road to success. That is why we trust in our many years of experience. Secondly, we would like to further develop our festival and enlarge our audiences in a targeted manner over the next two years. Every year CROSSING EUROPE sets out to present European filmmakers to a broader audience and to distinguish their work with money and material prizes within a professional framework and in the accustomed comfortable atmosphere. Additionally numerous follow-up screenings (""Crossing Europe goes...""), extended networking with other festivals (festival network „Moving Images Open Borders – MIOB“) and implementation of the latest digital technologies (e.g. expansion of our streaming offering) are building blocks of our work. Moreover, we want to push sustainable/green festival work („Crossing Europe Goes Green“), media literacy (YAAAS! Youth Program) and inclusivity, diversity and gender balance forward. In summary, CROSSING EUROPE wants to bring together the expectations of a professional and of the local cinema audience and to provide a unique festival experience. "
