CrossRoads was one of the biggest successes in the previous Interreg program. Concrete innovations were achieved in dozens of part projects by collaborating firms from Flanders and the Netherlands. These include The Printgallery's self-adhesive digital printable adhesive layer and the TempMitter, a mobile validation measurement instrument. Many companies have grown substantially thanks to CrossRoads' Interreg contribution. CrossRoads 2 is building on this success. This time, the focus is on innovations within domains such as agrofood, chemicals and materials, high-tech systems, life sciences & health, cleantech, bio-based, logistics and maintenance. Each one is a sector in which socially-relevant applications can emerge. With an active and direct approach, open calls for submitting interesting project proposals, supervision and coaching for partner matching and subsidising, CrossRoads promotes close collaboration in the border region between companies, complemented with knowledge institutions. Between 2010 and 2014, the first CrossRoads created an estimated 300 extra jobs in the border region and had a significant impact on the market potential of the participating companies. CrossRoads 2 aims to deliver 50 innovation projects in which companies participate. This is supervised by parties such as the Innovatiecentra Oost-Vlaanderen en Limburg (East Flanders and Limburg innovation centres), i-Cleantech Vlaanderen and BOM (Business Development & Foreign Investments). The first call for project proposals will be made before the summer.
