Description

Description

The project consists of improvements to the existing water system to remove the longstanding boil water advisory in the Town of Glenburnie-Birchy Head-Shoal Brook. The Scope of the project includes installing flushing hydrants to adequately clean out ends of lines, replacing the pressure reducing valve (PRV’s), and installation of flow meter. 50 mm flushing hydrants will be installed on town property and will require excavating for contractor to attach flushing hydrants to existing water lines. Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) replacement will involve improving access to the 2 PRV Stations, construction of new 6x6 buildings with concrete foundation, ventilation, lighting, new stainless-steel pipe, new valves. Previously developed land will be used. Flow monitor will be installed for leak monitoring in add-on to existing chlorination building. The project aims to upgrade our existing infrastructure to remedy the longstanding boil water advisory and provide safe and clean drinking water for 60 households, 4 tourist accommodations (bed and breakfast), and 1 business.
