Description

Description

The South Hill Street Streetscape project is located in the City of Buford, in Gwinnett County. South Hill Street is a two lane urban collector street connecting two newly revitalized areas in downtown Buford. The project begins at Main Street and ends at Buford Highway (S.R. 13). Shopping and restaurants along the Main Street end have become popular, as well as new retail and residential developments adjacent to the New City Hall at Buford Highway. The proposed project includes pedestrian upgrades such as sidewalks, landscaped buffers, pedestrian scale lighting, pedestrian crossings, and minimal raised medians along both sides of the 0.73 mile corridor. Improving pedestrian facilities along South Hill Street in downtown Buford will facilitate connectivity among the historic retail and commercial uses along Main Street, the emerging Government Central activity node along Buford Highway, as well as Buford's historic neighborhoods.
