Description | The proposed safety project is located in Newton County. This project will replace the intersection of Turner Lake Road and Clark Street currently controlled by a traffic signal with a roundabout. The roundabout will be 100 feet in diameter (inside). The circular travel lane will be 15 feet in width with an additional 10-foot wide apron to accommodate larger vehicles. The outside shoulders will have 24" curb and gutter with 6-foot wide sidewalks adjacent to the back of curb. Raised splitter islands will also be provided as a directional guide. The interior of the roundabout will be grassed or landscaped. A culvert will be installed under Turner Lake Road to accomodate a multi-use path leading from the City of Covington to the Turner Lake Recreation Complex. |
