This project is the replacement of a narrow and structurally deficient timber bridge on Jefferson Street (CS 769) over the CSX Railroad in the City of LaGrange. The bridge has a sufficiency rating of 15. The existing appraoches consist of a two lane urban section with 0.6 m to 1.2 m grass strips and 1.2 m sidewalks. The existing right of way is 15.24 m. The construction proposes to replace the existing timber bridge with a 43.0 m X 12.0 m (8.4 m curb to curb with 1.8 m sidewalks) concrete structure over CSX Railroad along the existing alignment. The proposed structure will be designed in compliance with clearance requirements by CSX Railroad. The appraoches will consist of two, 3.6 m lanes with curb and gutter and 1.5 m sidewalk at face of curb to match the proposed sidewalks on the bridge. The proposed right of way will vary from 15.0 m to 18.0 m. The roadway will be closed during construction. Through traffic will utilize existing roads and streets as a detour.
