In terms of current European art trends, there is an increasing demand for abandoned sites (for example deteriorated industrial heritage facilities, old botanique gardens, out of use office blockhouses, etc.), as unique locations of progressive cultural programs. Abandoned complexes carry both the inherent unique atmosphere of the mechanical or organic infrastructure and the mystical interior necessary for the organization of high-quality visual programs, such as light art cultural events which make also one of the most prominent wave of contemporary art trends in Europe. Consequently, the light art cultural branch can take an active role in the revalorization of abandoned sites, thus the unused buildings can be reborn as visited centers for cultural events. For this reason, one of the aims of our cooperation (consisting of significant organizers of European light art festivals) is to create a creative project that simultaneously generates innovative and transnational light art cultural program offer for the European audience and deepens the international professional cooperation and capacity-building through the proposed workshop framework between the project partners, thereby directly contributing to the revalorization of abandoned areas, the transnational circulation of art works and strengthening the progressivity of the international light art cultural sector in the same time. In the meantime, as another essential project aim, in the time of war and widespread wave of populism and cultural tensions, our partnership will also put a strong emphasize on the propagation of European core values, like freedom, peace, tolerance and democracy through light art works, that will be presented on an artistic and creative way within the planned light art cultural events. Thus, the project will also directly strengthen the transnational basic values of the EU and help us to generate an intercultural dialogue through creative artistic creation.
